The blue moment

After a long work day I took a little break. It felt great to walk a little bit, althoug it's still cold (-18C) and a bit windy, too. I chose a beautiful moment to go outside. Sun has just set but it's not yet completely dark but instead really, really blue. Having snow on the ground makes the blueness even more intensive. There was also a beautiful full moon.

Cinderella shoe, part II

I had a long and busy day that did involve some walking outside, but not much picture taking. So today's picture is again taken right outside our house.

Remember that shoe I wrote about last saturday? Well, it's restless and moves around - not very quickly but moves nevertheless. Now it has jumped on a bench outside our home, as you can see from today's picture.

Sports hall of Linnanmaa

I'm getting quite sick of this skin-biting coldness. Today it was under -15C but really quite windy. I walked to the grocery store and admired the snow glistening under the streetlights for about five minutes. Then I had lost feeling of my face and just wanted to get back home soon. I walked past a sports hall nearby and quickly snapped a picture of it.

Light stripes

Brrr. A little wind made the weather feel really, really cold. It was around -12C when I took a bit longer route home from the Bible study group. I enjoyed the walk but taking photographs was rather difficult because my fingers were freezing. In today's picture you can see lights from a school's playground. The school is at the other end of our home street.

Kindergarten

Objectively today was a good day for walking. -7C, no rain or slippery roads or anything like that. But my subjective day just was lousy for walking. I survived a morning lesson and running errands at the city center again but I didn't have time to take a picture. So at night I went outside just for the picture. There's a kindergarten right next door and I took a picture at it's playground.

Geocachers

Tuomo wanted to go geocaching today so I went with him to take pictures while he seeks the caches. After all, it's only -10C and I haven't been out much this weekend. What I didn't guess was how humid it was and how much that matters. We both couldn't feel our toes when we got home. Also something went wrong with the pictures I took as most of them weren't sharp even though I used a tripod. Oh well, at least this turned out OK.

Cinderella: the winter version?

It's still around -20C and I'm still being a chicken. I only popped my head outside for a short while. That was enough time to see a shoe in the middle of the road. Now I can understand that someone can lose their flip-flops on a sunny beach in the middle of the summer. But how does one lose their shoes in the middle of the winter?

Icy mist

There's the weather type when it's -18C, sun is shining, air is dry and everything is silent. That is a pretty nice weather for walking around and enjoying the brisk winter air. Then there's those days when it's -18C, sun is shining, air is humid and a slight wind feels like thousands of tiny icy darts. Today was like that.

How still can you be?

I finally got tired of getting dark and grainy pictures and decided to choose the target for today's photo based on what I could shoot from some sort of platform. The problem was that it's -20C outside and I really didn't want to walk far.

Streetlights

Today I didn't need to walk alone for Tuomo came with me. Good thing that he did. I was so tired that I was ready to skip the walk altogether, but Tuomo dragged me out. The walk was about 20 minutes long. Weather has still been nice: around -10C and pretty clear skies.
